Thankfulness

Cock-a-doodle-do!!!

Dear brothers! This morning, as I woke up early like I normally do, my mind immediately went to the fact that I have no responsibilities today. No computer to log in to, no report to run, no data that is due. Total freedom to sleep in or total freedom to get up and enjoy the sunrise. Naturally, I got up, because that is what I love to do.

Today, I am very thankful. Being thankful is a blessing. Not only is it a blessing, but it is also an instruction from God’s Word.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always,

17 pray continually,

18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

It’s easy to look at one’s circumstances and find the bad, but we are called to a higher standard of thought and living. There is bad all around us because we live in a sin-cursed world. But that does not give us excuse to not be thankful.

Do you realize that we are only pilgrims in this world? We are only passing through! We are not home. We belong to the King, the God of all. We know that this world will waste away as scripture says, but we have a home we are going to!

Hebrews 12:28-29

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”

On this Thanksgiving Day, understand what we have to be thankful for. We have a God that loves us so much, He sacrificed His One and Only Son to die for us and gave us eternal life.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Happy Thanksgiving All!!!
